Maltby Centre is the lead regional agency for Mental Health and Autism Services, with an experienced and compassionate team of professionals who provide high quality, community based health and support services to children and youth in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington (KFL&A). Formerly known as Pathways for Children & Youth, Maltby Centre is a registered charity and not-for-profit agency established in 1996 and funded in part by the Ontario government. Through the work of over 140 dedicated staff, Maltby Centre creates possibilities for change in young lives.
As a Mental Health Therapist, you will function independently in office and community settings to provide clinical mental health assessment and treatment to the children, youth, and families. Maltby Centre provides services virtually and in-person to our clients. You will work as part of Maltby Centre’s Counselling and Therapy Team to ensure that those who reach out receive high quality, accessible, evidence informed mental health services. In addition, you may be required to participate in virtual After Hours On-Call coverage.
The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelors of Social Work or other related undergraduate program. Must hold current, unrestricted registration with a regulatory college to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy (e.g. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work) and deemed competent to perform psychotherapy in accordance with the relevant college’s practice guidelines and/or standards is required. This is complemented with at least three (3) year’s experience working with children and youth with mental health difficulties that affect their functioning at home, school or the community, formal training in family and individual counselling with children and youth and utilization of a variety of therapeutic approaches and clinical practices.
Current certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR), Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) an asset.
