About the organization:

Atira Women’s Resource Society is a non-profit large social housing organization dedicated to supporting women and children affected by violence by offering safe and supportive housing and related advocacy programs. Atira provides a range of services not only in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) but also in Burnaby, Surrey and White Rock. Atira Women’s Resource Society is accessible to anyone who identifies and lives as a woman and who experiences gendered violence and misogyny.

Atira Women’s Resource Society is dedicated to supporting women and children affected by violence by offering safe and supportive housing. There are currently around 32 housing programs from women with diversified needs including low income, transitional, supportive, shelter and second stage housing.

From housing to outreach, daycare to education, Atira works to empower and support women affected by violence. Atira provides low-barrier housing options for women fleeing from violence. Atira provides services like legal advocacy, counselling, family care, health and well-being, overdose prevention sites, outreach, education and learning, early care and learning centers.
