TransitNEXT, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin, is leading the design, construction and long-term maintenance of the Trillium Line Extension Project in Ottawa, Ontario, as a part of the municipality’s Stage 2 LRT extensions. TransitNEXT is seeking a dynamic Communications Advisor to support the Trillium Line Extension communication services.
The Communications Advisor will report to the TransitNEXT Communications Managers, Project & Stakeholder Relations. The successful candidate will support TransitNEXT with the planning and implementation of high-caliber, strategic communication and project tracking programs for the project.
How will you contribute to the team?
- Support the implementation of TransitNEXT’s tasks as outlined in the Construction Communications Plan and Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations Plan;
- Coordinate TransitNEXT’S daily administrative communications and engagement functions, proactively answer public inquires, attend community meetings, coordinate events, and provide design, construction and traffic management information to the public;
- Coordinate and disseminate various communication materials, such as public notices, newsletters, project handouts and fact sheets, presentations, advertisements, and so on;
- Visit sites regularly to take photos and short video clips that can be used to demonstrate project progress and build excitement;
- Maintain communication records and databases, support budget tracking and monitoring contract compliance.

Experience:
- Project Management:Â Able to conceive and implement communications tactics from start to finish, manage processes and expectations and key deliverables within set deadlines.
- Community and Stakeholder Relations:Â Understanding of community and stakeholder relations with the ability to proactively identify areas of potential concern and support the team with mitigation strategies.
- Research & Writing:Â Clear and concise writer and editor who is comfortable working with fellow disciplines to translate technical content into public information that is accurate, compelling and easy to understand.
- Event Planning:Â Planning and supporting the smooth execution of events.
Essential Skills/Competencies:
- Post-secondary degree in communication, public relations or journalism as well as experience in a related sector would be considered an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven abilities to work as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team.
- Exceptional planning and coordination skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience in event coordination and planning.
- Experience with and an affinity for graphic design, photography and basic video production, though professional training is not required.
- Superior organizational skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
- Must have a G Class driver’s license and be able to drive and walk along the project corridor throughout the project, including active construction terrains, following appropriate health and safety orientation and training.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.
