Currently there are two (2) full-time positions available. This location is eligible for a retention incentive available to regular permanent Social Program Officers living in Hard-to-Recruit communities, in addition may be eligible for applicable relocation reimbursement.

Child Protection Worker

$83,071.72 – $94,752.42 annually, which includes a 3 Grid Temporary Market Adjustment

The Hazelton Child Protection Team is a dedicated and welcoming group, working closely with the Nations of Hagwilget, Gitanmaax, Gitanyow, Gitsegukla, Gitwangak, Kispiox, and Sik-e-Dahk. Our small but passionate team is committed to collaborating with community partners and service providers to support the safety and well-being of children and families.

As a Child Protection Worker, you will support families in the local community by assessing and responding to child protection concerns. Your skill set will be used to interview children and parents, assess families’ strengths and needs, and engage in collaborative planning with the family to achieve positive outcomes. Your work directly impacts the well-being of vulnerable children and youth, helping to strengthen families and promote healthy development.

Qualifications for this role include:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work or in child & youth care OR master’s degree in educational counselling psychology/master of arts in counselling psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
• In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
• A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

2. Expanded Credentials:
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field OR bachelor’s degree with a major/honors in a human services field OR master’s level graduate certificate/diploma in a human services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated bachelor’s degree.
• PLUS, a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
