The Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) in Surrey is a dedicated multidisciplinary team providing specialized mental health care to young people involved in the justice system. You’ll work alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers and administrative staff in a collaborative and supportive environment.
As the clinic coordinator with YFPS you play a vital role in supporting youth involved in the justice system by providing compassionate, court-mandated mental health care. You assess and treat young people who require specialized services under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and other legislation, including those found unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder (NCRMD) under the Criminal Code of Canada. Your work helps create pathways to recovery and stability, offering youth the opportunity to heal, build resilience, and reintegrate into their communities.
This position co-ordinates and supervises the administration of Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services programs for youth who have offended within the various clinics and catchment areas served by these clinics. In addition, this position provides direct clinical assessment and treatment services to youth clients and the youth courts. Qualifications for this role include:
Master’s degree or equivalent education and training, i.e. MSW, M.Ed (Counselling) and MA (Clinical Psychology). Successful MSW candidates must be registered with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW).
• Minimum of three (3) years of post-degree clinical experience providing adolescent, outpatient oriented mental health assessment and treatment services.
• Minimum one (1) year recent (within the past five (5) years) related supervisory experience. Preferences may be given to applicants with the following:
