As a Film Festival Organizer at Caribbean Tales Media Group, you will have the unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for organizing and coordinating the Caribbean Tales Film Festival. This temporary summer position will allow you to gain hands-on experience in event management, marketing, and the film industry. You will work closely with the festival team to ensure the successful execution of the event, creating a memorable experience for attendees and filmmakers alike.
Responsibilities:
1. Festival Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with the festival team to develop and execute a comprehensive plan for the film festival.
- Assist in selecting films, coordinating screenings, and managing the festival schedule.
- Communicate with filmmakers regarding submission guidelines, deadlines, and acceptance notifications.
- Coordinate logistical aspects such as venue selection, equipment rental, and transportation.
2. Marketing and Promotion:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the film festival and increase attendance.
- Create compelling content for social media platforms, press releases, and promotional materials.
- Liaise with media outlets, bloggers, and influencers to secure coverage and maximize exposure.
- Engage with the local community and establish partnerships to enhance the festival’s visibility.
3. Event Operations:
- Oversee the smooth operation of the festival, ensuring all screenings and events run according to schedule.
- Manage ticketing and registration processes, including online sales and on-site box office operations.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to fulfill festival requirements, such as catering, signage, and merchandise.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide exceptional customer service throughout the festival.
4. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the festival team, volunteers, and interns to ensure seamless collaboration and efficient execution of tasks.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising event staff and volunteers as needed.
- Foster a positive and supportive team environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program in film studies, media, event management, or a related field (preferred).
- Passion for and knowledge of the film industry, including familiarity with different genres, directors, and emerging trends.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, marketing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience in event planning, film festivals, or related areas is a plus.
Duration and Compensation:
- This is a temporary summer position, for the duration of 8 weeks.
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience and the responsibilities of the role.
