Royal Roads University is committed to providing high quality, confidential counselling services to our students. We offer single session or short-term therapy by phone, zoom and in-person on our beautiful campus. We draw on an eclectic skill and theory base to address the broad range of issues our clients present with.  However, we primarily utilize a solution-focused approach that aims to help students address barriers to their wellbeing and academic success.

In addition to one-to-one counselling supports we also offer learning strategy supports to help students find success and offer workshops on a range of topics including Building Resilience, Time Management and Procrastination, Mindfulness and Self Care just to name a few.

We hope that a practicum student would embrace the opportunity to provide counselling sessions, as well as co-facilitate workshops with us.

We are a small team made up of two part-time counsellors: Sarah Chettleburgh and Gemma Fraser. We believe in working collaboratively as a team and meet weekly to plan and support each other, as well as share the responsibilities of supervision of practicum students. You can find out more about us on the RRU website here: https://www.royalroads.ca/student-counselling.

We are looking for a practicum student who can join our Team for 3 days/week on campus with some flexibility for working from home if needed.

If you are interested in finding out more about a possible practicum at RRU we’d love to hear from you. We are setting up meeting times in April 2023 to explore finding the right fit for our team. Please submit enquiries or cover letter/resumes by 4pm on Friday March 17th, 2023.
