Psychotherapy Practicum Program

Stephens Counselling offers Psychotherapy and Social Work services to individuals, couples and groups in a safe and supportive environment. We are situated in Kingston, Ontario where we offer in-person or virtual sessions. Within the agency, our clinicians have extensive experience with a wide range of expertise and knowledge.

This includes treating such issues as depression, anxiety, intimate partner violence, addiction, trauma, mood disorders, stress, difficult life transitions, grief/loss, and mental blocks in sports. We take on Qualifying Psychotherapists in order to support them in completing their practicum hours. We assist in placing students with appropriate clients, offering your services at a discounted rate, and generating a client base for them.

Qualifications required:
• Pursuit or near completion of Master’s degree in Counselling
Psycology or Social Work from a recognized North American

Institution
• Qualifying status with CRPO or OCSWSSW
• Professional liability insurance
• Confirmed acceptance into practicum

• Police record
• Client-centred, trauma informed approach to care
• Culturally competent
• Clear communication, sound judgement, and empathetic
ability to establish therapeutic relationships
• Self-motivated, self-confident and able to work independently
• A strong commitment to upholding professionalism and
ethical standards

The intern will be responsible for:
• Providing direct consultation and counselling for clients with
diverse mental health concerns under supervision
• Participate in supervision meetings and case consultations as
per requirements
• Keep client records according to practice standards
• Provide evidence-based, high-quality care to individuals in the
community

The practicum is on a part-time or full-time basis and must be able to provide in-person as well as virtual sessions. We are now accepting applications for a September 2026 start
