Join the hardworking and dedicated team delivering exciting arts and culture programs and activities to our community – and beyond. Reporting to the Education Manager, the KITS Producer produces the Kaleidoscope in the Schools (“KITS”) program with the Aurora Cultural Centre.

This contract position requires the successful candidate to be available from the earliest start day in January – June 30th, 2025.

The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, have interest in supporting arts education to our youngest students, be a generous and compassionate team member, and proficient in handling administrative tasks.

Position Summary

This position is both an office position working from home to organize events with the schools, and in person to attend every performance in the schools. Performances take place during the school day. Winter and spring performances take place throughout York Region. Travel is required for this role and is reimbursed based on policy. The role works closely with the Education Manager, the Performing Arts Manager, and the Production Manager to deliver the program.

As with all positions at the Centre, the KITS Producer is required to be flexible and punctual. This position will require the KITS Producer to manage multiple event locations simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines, and work as part of a team. The KITS Producer will be liaising with various members of the staff team on a variety of projects.

The successful candidate would be responsible for the following:

  • support logistics for KITS performing arts shows being produced in York Region elementary schools
  • contract artists and facilitate artist logistical needs
  • support relationship management between ACC and York Region elementary school principals and teachers;
  • create clear communication for schools to understand the KITS program, timing, expectations of delivery;
  • create clear communications on logistics for KITS artists and other members of the team to understand deliverables at the schools;
  • attend all KITS performances and workshops;
  • support KITS marketing and development needs at the schools;
  • support performers onsite as directed by Performing Arts Manager;
  • other duties as required to support the KITS education program.

Remuneration

This position is a contractor role with a fee for services rendered. The fee is $15,000 for the 6-month period, paid bi-weekly. Contractor roles are a fee for service, with the contractor providing their own equipment and defining the hours to complete the role. The Contractor must be available to connect with programming and administrative staff, and to attend programs supporting this initiative. Administrative Office Hours for staff are 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. In-school events typically start early morning through to early afternoon. Contractor will determine their schedule outside of school events.

Contractor must have valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. Contractor will be expected to lift and move items up to 50lbs during their role. Contractor will need to provide a computer/laptop to complete administrative roles and be accessible via cell phone while on tour.

Position Location and Type

The position is a hybrid role with remote administrative work and fulfilling in person production requirements at every school. Schools are located throughout York Region.

  • As this role goes into schools, a criminal record search will be required of the successful candidate is acceptable to the Aurora Cultural Centre and names the list of York Region school boards served by the program.
