📃 About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Marketing & Partnerships Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the team with day-to-day marketing activities, content creation, and administrative tasks. This includes managing Startup Canada’s digital channels, social media, and website, and ensuring they stay current and aligned with organizational goals. The coordinator will also work closely with partners to ensure marketing and communications requirements are met while helping to create engaging content, run promotional campaigns, and provide live event coverage. By acting as a liaison for partners and supporting strategic initiatives, this role amplifies Startup Canada’s mission to connect and empower early-stage entrepreneurs across the country.

✅ Responsibilities

  • Support in developing written and visual marketing communications materials and promotional campaigns for Startup Canada (e.g. promotional messaging, presentations, partner deliverables for campaigns, and programs).
  • Support and develop weekly email marketing campaigns to promote programs and engage with our core audiences.
  • Develop, write, and schedule social media content for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
  • Engage with and monitor Startup Canada’s online communities and partners.
  • Contribute towards creating online content for Startup Canada’s flagship programs (e.g. writing website pieces, creating short videos).
  • Developing and maintaining promotional materials marketing the organization and its programs.
  • Partner with the Design Manager to develop graphics that amplify the impact of written content.
  • Support in providing live event coverage and live-streaming through Startup Canada’s social media channels.
  • Research, draft, edit and publish articles, blogs, social copy, and campaigns.
  • Update Startup Canada’s websites, including content, blogs, graphics, logos, and ongoing collateral.
  • Lead the planning, creation, and distribution of Startup Canada’s weekly Startup Your Week newsletter and the LinkedIn newsletter, in addition to other ad hoc publications as requested.
  • Lead the planning, creation, and execution of the social media content calendar.
  • Partner with Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications to develop themes for communications that amplify Startup Canada’s voice and impact.
  • Amplify Startup Canada as the nation’s leading hub for early-stage entrepreneurs and the premier convener of entrepreneurial resources for early-stage startups.
  • Continuous learning about the needs of Canada’s early-stage entrepreneurs, and the impact of public and private sector entrepreneurial support.
  • Manage paid and community partner promo submissions in Startup Canada’s monthly content calendar.
  • Working with the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, execute custom marketing campaigns, including blogs, newsletter inclusions, and social media content with paid partners.
  • Working with the partnerships team, advocate for partners internally to help prioritize the partners’ marketing-related goals.
  • Track and analyze the performance of partner marketing campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement in the Marcom MEP and end-of-year reports.
  • Collaborate with the Tour Lead and Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications to lead and develop key communications campaigns and outputs for Startup Canada Tour stops.
  • Work with the Tour Lead to support in updating Pheedloop content.
  • Lead email correspondence with select @startupcan.ca inboxes (hello@startupcan, women@startupcan, etc.).
  • Other ad hoc tasks as assigned that support the marketing of Startup Canada programs and communications with Startup Canada partners.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication skills, and ability to maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A self-starter who is adaptable and agile to changing priorities.
  • Calm under pressure, with demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to write and produce content that captures an audience’s attention through creative, articulate, and original writing while staying on top of the latest social media trends to ensure content is relevant and engaging.
  • Ability to edit and produce reel content, including the addition of captions
  • Skilled at editing and proofreading with proven attention to style, tone, and detail.
  • Knowledgeable of website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics) with strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of SEO best practices for content creation and website optimization.
  • Solid understanding of email marketing best practices and CASL/CAN-SPAM compliance.
  • Ability to quickly understand and translate a program’s vision, purpose, and operations into written content.
  • Knowledgeable of Canadian entrepreneurial best practices, small businesses, marketing, data management and strategies to support Canadian entrepreneurs.
  • Strong digital literacy and computer skills, including the ability to use social media tools, ActiveCampaign/Constant Contact, Google suite, Canva, Notion (or similar project management tool), and Slack. Experience using media monitoring tools is also an asset.
  • Ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Be willing to travel for work (approximately 4 or less weeks per year).
